The Power Lines Association of South Africa (“POLASA”) has appointed Mr. Vally Padayachee has its Chief Executive Officer, on a part-time basis, with effect from 15 April 2021.
POLASA supports the development and maintenance of the full spectrum of the power line industry to ensure a viable and sustainable network of companies that can support the growth and maintenance of the grid for the transmission and distribution of electricity in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The core purpose of POLASA is to provide all the stakeholders in the power line industry with a common platform to address matters of common interest and concern.
Vally is a Chartered Director (South Africa), CD (SA) and also holds an MSc (Eng) and MBA degrees. He is a seasoned engineering professional and executive with over forty years of experience in the power and energy sectors having worked in the petrochemical, power and energy fields including power utilities both locally and internationally.
Vally has held executive management level positions at Eskom. Subsequently at City Power Johannesburg, Vally also held various positions including that of COO, VP (Customer Services & Retail) and Director (Engineering Operations). Vally also acted as the President and CEO of City Power JHB.
His most recent positions were as Executive Director at Gibb Consulting Engineering, Chief Executive Officer of PDNA/Mott MacDonald (Resources and Energy) and as a Board Member and Group Executive Director of Altron Power (Powertech Group).
Vally Padayachee was also for many years an EXCO and Council Member of The Engineering Council of SA (“ECSA”) and also served as a Council Member of The Institution of Certificated Mechanical and Electrical Engineers of South Africa (ICMEESA) and was the Editor of “The Certificated Engineer” for a few years.
