Dear member of the Power Line industry,

The new year is upon us, your new POLASA Board has already met twice and the various initiatives discussed are in progress. A few special items follow.

Steel Awards 2017 Project Entry Deadline: 31 March 2017

A new opportunity exist for line contractors:  Please enter one or more of your projects or sections of a project for consideration in the SAISC annual Steel Awards.  This gala event will be held on Wednesday 13 September 2017 in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.  Excellence in the use of structural steel during 2016 is recognised.

Many of your projects are well worth recognition and should be entered.  This is a wonderful opportunity to impress your wives, your clients and suppliers.  The video presentation and Steel Construction magazine captures all entries and is available for use afterwards. The trick is to submit very good photos and a clear and clever explanation of the challenges of the job!

The Steel Awards entry form is available for download here, and the booklet explaining the entry process is available here.

Power & Electricity World Africa 2017:  28 March and 29 March 2017

The 20th annual Power & Electricity World Africa is Africa’s largest and most holistic power, energy and water business event: an exhibition, series of seminars, and strategic conference.  Most South African decision makers and many representatives from all over Africa attend this show.

POLASA decided to (for the first time) have a small stand to show a presence and to enable our executives to participate and interact with others in the industry.  So please diarise the event.  You can register and will find more information on:

A friendly request: We need a few good photos of power line projects under construction or a few of those excellent shots showing existing lines against some of the best backdrops in the country.  Many photos also show how these lines bring life and light to cities and communities. Please let me have your pic’s – we will give full credits to photographers and your companies.  There is also a Photo category in the Steel Awards.
